RWO is first and foremost a guild focused on exploring new content, much of it raiding. As such we have a few requirements all applicants should achieve before applying to the guild. If an applicant does not meet the requirements your application will be removed.
Make sure you meet these requirements before putting in an application:
* I realize this is somewhat of a drastic requirement, but, it should not affect most of the applicants. The reason we ask our applicants to be 17 or older is that, is that, while we strive to keep things civil between our guildmembers, we are not exactly PG-13, and more mature (or immature) jokes may be made, also, we ask that our applicants have a certain level of control over their lives, we would hate to see one of you disappear off the face of the earth because your keyboard was taken away by your mother, or you are grounded for a couple weeks.
** This is a new addition to the requirements. RWO is focused on end game content. If your gearing can't keep up with what is demanded by the instance we are currently raiding, you will not be able to be a contributing raid member. Please keep that in mind before applying. This will apply to all future instances and all resist gear sets applicable and attainable. NOTE: with the new Itemization in Burning Crusade it will be much easier for new applicants to be appropriately geared out for end game content.
We open raid invitations to guild members at approximately a half-hour prior to official raid start time and expect all raid members to be at the appropriate boss and ready to go at when the raid beigns.
Applicants go through a trial period of one to three weeks (depending on whether we need more information- healers or classes with few applicants tend to have longer app periods). During that period, we will invite a number of applicants who are available (online) when we have determined how many raid slots we will have open.
If an applicant is not available, guilded, or unresponsive when the recruitment officers attempt to get in contact with them- the recruitment officers will move down the list of applicants and you will have lost your chance to trial for the night and pushed your (already somewhat long) application period forward by one or more days. When it comes time to make decisions about who to invite to the guild- availability during trial period is a serious concern- especially if you've been unreachable for several nights without updating your application to say what's going on. If those several days are at the start of your app period, chances are we will just turn you down.
We are a small guild. High attendance and communication are invaluable. Even if we cannot fit you in on a raid night- you're availability is noted and is a mark in your favor. The last thing we need is people who are only there some days and can't be bothered to let us know what's going on.
It can take anywhere from half a day to a week to get started on trials depending on any personality conflicts with current members of the guild. We recruit for minimum drama. There's enough from day to day living and people having bad days, we do our best to make sure that each new member fits in with the others. A skill-perfect applicant may still not get taken if they've got major conflicts going on with our current members.
Stalking members is not acceptable. Don't do it. Creepiness is a turn off. If you're a creepy stalker who is the best at their job, we might still not take you. Stalking = not cool. Got it? Good. A quick hello or asking relevant questions is all cool.
Our recruitment officers are Mylk and Therapy. These are the folks who will contact applicants about raid spots open for trials (unless for some bizarre reason they're all gone for the night, at which point Groundchuck will probably be the one contacting you) and who will know if we may have one open. You can feel free to contact any of the other officers, but if your question pertains to the trial period you may just be redirected.
Just some general information to help make your trial period as smooth as possible.
It is up to you to get transferred in a timely fashion, just because you have app'ed with us doesn't mean we are going to save you a spot. It is very possible we could fill up on your class while you wait x amount of days to transfer for whatever reason it may be. I would suggest that you keep in very good contact with one of the recruitment officers so that you are aware of recruitment status.
Disclaimer: We cannot guarantee acceptance to the guild at the end of trials, I would guess that our acceptance rate is around 30%. We recruit for personality because having people that fit into our network is very important. We love trolls, but angsty forums splattering heart breaking drama is best left at the door. We try to keep the internal drama as low key as the mages and hunters bickering over who broke the sheep. As a transfer you have the advantage of having no immediate conflicts, but the disadvantage of having no sponsor or in-guild friends to recommend you. We also recruit for skill, and demand a lot of our applicants. Please be attentive and available- read through the stickies at the top of this forum for more tips and tricks for making your application shine.
While a few members of our guild are very active in the Raid and Dungeons community, we are not currently in competition for world firsts, and probably will not be during TBC. We pour sweat and blood into every boss kill and they are not "easy". There will be wipes. There will be nights when bosses get down to 5% and simply do not die that night. Learning content is a lot like sticking your head in a car door and bashing it closed a few times. We're not a free ride to epics, every epic is bought and paid for with hundreds of gold in consumables and repairs and dozens of hours of painful "who knows what the hell went wrong" learning. If you're not willing to put in your hours of raiding, farming, and frustration, this might not be the guild for you.
It's incredibly rewarding to people with a certain mindset- and those are the people we need in this guild and want to recruit. We may very well be dying to meet you!
Mostly a suggestion. If you are serious about considering a transfer to Sen'jin with RWO as your target destination, get in contact with an officer and see if you can spend a night or two listening to raids before transferring. A server transfer isn't something to make lightly and we understand that. While we will not open our guild vent channels to the general public, I can't see any reason why we would exclude an interested app from taking a peek at how our raids are run.
I'd like to ask that you also keep us updated on your transfer process. If you successfully transfer please let a recruitment officer know so that we can start bringing you along for trials.
